Sandbar Villas

Frequently asked questions

Arriving & leaving

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is at 12:00. Seaplane arrivals are timed by the airline, so if you land before your villa is ready we will settle you at Tide Table or the spa. Late check-out is free when the villa is not needed; ask your host.

The rooms

Do all villas have a private pool?

Yes. Every villa on the island has its own pool, and every main bedroom has a roof that slides open above the bed. The Sunset Water Retreats, Family Water Retreats and the Sandbar Reserve also have a water slide into the lagoon.

Are children welcome?

Very. Children of all ages are welcome, cots are free, and The Den, our kids' club for ages 4 to 12, is open daily from 09:00 to 18:00. The Family Water Retreats are designed with a shallow sun shelf in the pool and child-size snorkel gear.

Food & drink

Which meal plans can I choose?

Bed and breakfast, half board, full board or all inclusive. All inclusive covers every meal (including Hikari once per stay), house wines, beers and cocktails, the villa minibar, one snorkel safari and one 60-minute spa treatment per guest.

What is your cancellation policy?

On flexible rates you can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before arrival; within 30 days, three nights are charged. Between 20 December and 10 January the free period is 45 days. Pay-now rates are not refundable.

Getting here

How do I get to Sandbar Villas?

By seaplane from Malé, about 40 minutes and daylight only, or by a 35-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo followed by 15 minutes on our speedboat. Our host meets you at Velana International Airport. The return seaplane is Rf 17,000 per person.

Anything else

When is the best time to see manta rays?

Manta rays and whale sharks gather at Hanifaru Bay, 20 minutes away, during the southwest monsoon, roughly June to November. Our marine biologist leads safaris when they are feeding; sightings are never guaranteed.

Is there Wi-Fi on the island?

Yes, fast Wi-Fi is free in every villa and across the island. If you would rather switch off, your host can remove the television and router from your villa before you arrive.
